Who Is Yusra Hussain?
Yusra Hussain is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University and a Stanford Health Care member out of Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto. She’s also part of Healthcare Workers for Palestine, and she’s spent a good chunk of her time signing petitions, posting antisemitic conspiracy theories, and showing up to protests tied to anti-Israel activism. The job title says “impartial educator.” The receipts say something else entirely.
How Has Yusra Hussain Blurred Professional Lines at Stanford?
Hussain keeps using her medical and academic clout to push a one-sided political agenda, mostly through protests cooked up by Stanford Healthcare Workers for Palestine. It’s a neat trick: wrap the politics in a white coat and suddenly it looks like patient care. Whether she can actually separate the two when she’s teaching or treating is anyone’s guess—and that’s the problem.
- September 2025 — Hussain joined a Stanford Healthcare Workers for Palestine protest over the detention and discharge of a patient in U.S. ICE custody.

- November 2023 — just weeks after October 7th, Hussain protested alongside Stanford doctors, nurses, and med students against Israeli attacks on Gaza, right outside the Stanford University School of Medicine.

- May 2021 — Hussain weighed in on a petition urging Reps. Lofgren, Khanna, and Eshoo to stop sending U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund military aid to Israel.

What Petitions Has Yusra Hussain Signed?
If there’s a petition floating around, odds are Hussain’s name is on it. She’s signed off on divestment demands, calls to drop charges against student protesters, and various open letters pushing one very specific take on the Gaza war. Nuance doesn’t seem to make the cut.
- June 2025 — Hussain signed a petition demanding Stanford divest from companies linked to the war and “genocide” in Gaza, drop felony charges against 12 student protesters, defend academic freedom, and lift restrictions on protest speech. The petition was stated as being by “the Stanford Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine (FSJP).”
- April 2025 — Hussain signed a call from 215-plus Stanford faculty urging leadership to defend academic freedom and university autonomy, resist federal overreach, and protect research, free speech, and vulnerable community members.
- October 2023 — Hussain signed a public health professionals’ call to end violence in Gaza and Israel.
- January 2017 — Hussain signed a public letter condemning Trump’s 2017 executive order suspending visas and immigration benefits for people from several majority-Muslim countries.
- Undated — Hussain signed a petition calling for the immediate release of Palestinian-American researcher Ubai Aboudi, detained by the IDF. The petition was also signed by notorious online poster of antisemitism, Susan Abulhawa.
Why Does Yusra Hussain’s Record Matter for Stanford?
A university’s reputation lives and dies on whether its faculty can teach without shoving their politics down students’ throats. Hussain’s protest history, petition habit, antisemitic conspiracy social media posts, and interview soundbites all point one direction, and her Assistant Professor title gives that direction a megaphone. She’s part of a wider campus crowd whose idea of education looks a lot like indoctrination—which makes her a pretty rough fit for fairly guiding the next batch of medical professionals.
That’s the kind of pattern that raises real Title VI eyebrows, since the Civil Rights Act bans discrimination based on shared ancestry in federally funded programs. For Stanford, she’s a liability with a white coat.
